AC Not Cooling? 10 Things to Check Before Calling a Technician

  1. Check the mode — make sure it’s on Cool, not Fan or Dry.
  2. Check the temperature setpoint — set it 4–5°C below the room temperature.
  3. Inspect the filters — dirty filters dramatically cut airflow.
  4. Look at the outdoor unit — is the fan spinning? Any debris blocking it?
  5. Try a hard reset — switch off at the breaker for 5 minutes, then on.
  6. Confirm voltage — low mains voltage will stop the compressor; check stabilizer.
  7. Listen for the compressor — a quiet outdoor unit usually means the compressor isn’t running.
  8. Check vent direction — vertical louvres pointing up cool the room faster.
  9. Look for ice on the indoor coil — ice = airflow problem or low gas. Switch off; let it thaw.
  10. Smell for burning — switch off immediately and call a technician.

Still no cool air? Book a technician — we’ll be there same day in major cities.
